DIY printable paper peace banner :: Repost

Today, I'm wrapping presents and using my own Santa gift tags and gift bag tutorial that I posted earlier this week.  While I'm busy being Santa's helper, I thought I'd repost another DIY project that I shared last year - the printable peace banner.

I gave these out to some friends last Christmas.  I was happy to see them hanging year round in some of their homes as mine does in our kitchen nook.  This is a great project to do with the kids and a great little gift that can be shared throughout the year.

You can read the original DIY peace banner post here and download the printable banner here:

Santa's personal holiday gift tags - free printable

The kids are always excited to see how Santa wraps his gifts each year.  Often, he uses very cute gift wrap with snowmen or elves.  Well, this year, Santa has special gift tags and I got a hold of them!

I can't reveal my source but a little friend of mine, at the North Pole, shared these with me.  I was told I could only share them with those I trust. So here they are...Santa's personal holiday gift tags... for your personal use.  I think Santa will appreciate our making things a bit easier for him.

I printed these on card stock paper and used pinking shears and a hole punch to finish.  Click link above or photo below to download.  Enjoy!

Today's Holiday Scramble: An ode to Someday.

Someday, I will have my holiday shopping completed weeks in advance.

Someday, I will have all of my holiday cards sent out early.

Someday, I will know exactly what to get everyone on my list.

Someday, I will be able to sit back, relax, and enjoy this crazy time of year.

Today is not Someday.

Spreading some holiday humor

I'm heading to a "girls night" holiday party this evening. We are exchanging ornaments (I'm sure many of which will be distasteful) and I decided that I'd resurrect my cheeky ornament designs from year's past.
I didn't have time to make these to sell in my Etsy shop this year but I hope to find some time to make them for personal hostess gifts and wine tags. It's a fun way to enter a party with laughter and break the ice.

To make: I used wood rounds that I purchased from the local art supply. I printed my designs and decoupaged them to the wood. I then adhered bead ball chains to the edges and gave them a nice glossy finish. I hope the recipient finds them as funny as I do.

I've also added some of these designs to my Zazzle shop. Now you can buy them on cards, t-shirts, and mugs. I'll be adding more in the coming week. These would make great gifts for office parties or gift exchanges!

Happy Halloween!

Mortimer waving to the neighbors

Sigh...since the boys have moved beyond homemade costumes now, I thought that I share a few favorites from the past.

2006 - E as mummy and M (sneaking up behind) as Ninja. E's costume was simply muslin tacked on to grey sweatpants and jacket. To this day, there are still little knots of thread on that jacket.
2007 - E as an M & M. This is one of my favorites! I used puffy paint for the face and felt for the body. His only complaint was that people kept trying to take a bite out of him.

2007 - M as a crusader from Monty Python (the killer rabbit scene - notice it on his neck). People either recognized this costume right away or didn't get it all.

2008 - M as Angus Young from AC/DC.
