A great anniversary celebration on a budget

Friday was our 16th wedding anniversary. We've known each other for 18 years. Usually, we've gone away for the weekend. We even used to take turns planning the anniversary weekend, but after 16 years life gets busy. This year, a friend of mine suggested we send the kids away and enjoy a nice weekend by ourselves at home. She had just spent a week with her husband sans children and said it was fabulous. So, that's what we decided to do.

Aside from an already planned yard sale, we simply went out to a great dinner Friday night (after a fun reception at Craftland), for dim sum on Sunday morning (something we used to do every week before having kids), and drove to a nearby quaint beach town for antiquing and a walk along the beach. Yesterday was so beautiful without a cloud in the sky. What a relaxing time AND the least expensive anniversary celebration ever.

18 years ago, we took these photo booth pictures. I decided I'd surprise C with a stop by our local arcade to take some new ones. What fun and for $3.00 we have this great memento of our anniversary. It's nice to know we haven't changed much from the way we were so long ago (beside a few wrinkles, grey hair, 2 kids, med school, a start-up business, etc).

  5. Thank you, all! I remember in my early 20s deciding that I was going to wait for the perfect guy even if it meant I'd stay single. Shortly thereafter, I met C...my perfect guy.
