It hit us like a lead balloon this week. We have 118 days before C is finished with residency [see the personal note in this post]. It is time to officially put the house up for sale. Movers are coming to supply estimates for our great trek across the country. [Why do I feel like a covered wagon should be involved?]
Denial
I've been in denial and will continue to be during this process. It's easier that way.
Overwhelmed
You cannot believe how much "stuff" I have to purge and pack. I look around each day and want to crawl into a hole.
Nervous
Here we are again at the crossroads of uncertainty and adventure.
So, where is my moment this week? It came when C and I dropped the kids off at skate board camp and then wandered Newport, RI, for several hours. I took in the sites as if they were the last time I'd ever seen them. Perhaps they are. I thought about how much I appreciated living here for almost 7 years. The ocean, the history, the crazy rotaries are all things I will miss about New England. Wicked awful!
If you were moving away tomorrow, what would you miss?
OM is a weekly meet up that promotes living in the moment. Whether funny, sad, ridiculous, or banal, actively looking for and sharing these moments will promote balance in our lives.
Share in the blog comments here, on your own blog (and link back below) or on my Facebook fan page. If you are on Twitter, use hash tag - #omMeetup so we can converse if we'd like. We'd love to hear your moment this week!

You will be missed, my friend. xoxo Beth
ReplyDeleteSo sad to see you go, Lin, but excited for you as well. And when you get a little hankering for New England, you can always come visit!
ReplyDeleteYou've got LOTS of time...no worries! And think of the wicked awesome place you're moving to!
ReplyDeleteI love your photo choice. I can't imagine how your are feeling. That sense of urgency coupled with the emotional factor of moving your family to a new home must be BIG. But, remember, wherever you go and whatever you are doing, you are doing it as a family. And really, what more do you need?
ReplyDeleteAlso, Pete says, "decisions terminate panic". If you're feeling overwhelmed. Give yourself an assignment. Tackle it. Then take a moment to look back at what you've accomplished. How do you eat a whale? One bite at a time. You can do it and you will do it WELL!
Thank you for your kind words, all. I'm not sure how I'm going to get through all this w/ shutting down the shop for awhile. I just want it all to be over.
ReplyDeleteCrazy times for sure but what fun that you get to experience it. Some people stay in the same place their whole life. I'm sure there will be ups and downs but it'll all work out in the end and no matter what changes come your online world will go with you easily. :) Good luck with it all! We're here to share your excitements and frustrations whenever you need us!
ReplyDeleteIf I was moving away from Alberta I would miss the prairies in the summer when a thunder storm rolls in. There's nothing more amazing that the dark grey skies contrasted by the bright yellow canola fields. Beautiful! Man I can't wait for Spring! Stupid Winter! ;)
I am an awesome packer and purger. Invite me over, we'll pop a cork and get 'er done!
