Join me in an upcoming workshop - 'Playing with Paper' @Craftland - 8/4/10

Do you, like me, save your magazines and then feel guilty about eventually throwing them away. I used to, but not anymore. Now I use much of my collection to make various items that I actually use regularly. For example, I make a variety of envelopes (seen below) and use them as decorative packaging for my jewelry.

Come join me at Craftland's School of Craft to explore 'Playing with Paper' on August 4th. Bring your old magazines and books and we will make functional art such as flowers, envelopes, boxes, gift bags, and more.
We will also explore local artist Jason Thompson's book, Playing with Books. Jason owns Rag and Bone Bindery where he makes gorgeous keepsake albums and books. In his not-so-spare time, he also meticulously makes beautiful paper art. I hope to have a few of his pieces to share.

Feel free to bring your extra magazines to use and share. You will go home with templates and finish pieces that you will be able to recreate. And for those of you who aren't local, I hope to have instructional tutorials available here on my blog. You can see my flower tutorial here.
