On our beach excursion over the weekend, we found this awesome buoy. We just had to keep it, barnacles and all. So, we tossed it in the back of the Highlander. Unfortunately, we forgot to take it out of the car and it sat there, baking in the sun, for at least 12 hours. When we got in the car the next day, it wreaked.
I've opened all the windows and let the car air out for the past day, but this morning it still stank. Pardon the following socially unacceptable quote from my son but it must be said, "This car smells like butt."
It reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Jerry buys a car with a B.O. smell and can't get rid of it. Argh!
Any advice?!

My husband also left something fishy smelling in his car to roast in the sun! We sprinkled baking soda, let it do it's magic over night and vacuumed it up, after several times the smell started to fade. Good Luck!

ReplyDeleteGet a bunch of dryer sheets and leave them all over the car, that will def help absorb most of the smell!!!
ReplyDeleteDo you have a screened porch or a garage? Leave it outside (but covered, out of the elements) for a long, LONG time. Sometimes our "beachy" finds stay outside for up to a year. And you still might not get rid of all the briney smell. But personally, I like a little brine! SITS sent me over here, and I'm glad they did...
