Dear Governor Sanford's press secretary (and all other press secretaries for that matter):
Please spare us the obligatory photo op of the wife standing behind her fallen husband. Post Clinton, McGreevey, Spitzer, and Edwards it is not only cliché but infuriating. Let's be honest, your time is better served moving on to the next politician. This one's political career is over.
While Mrs. Sanford has a lot to deal with, humiliating her further is unnecessary and cruel. Whether or not she decides to stand by her man figuratively, it is in poor taste to ask her to do so literally.
Sincerely,
A person sick of political reruns
