How to add tabs in Blogger using the links list gadget

Since I've had several people ask me, in the past week, I am going to give step by step instructions on how to add tabs to the top of your Blogger blog (yes, my blog is a Blogger blog).  It's very easy to do and will make your blog much more user friendly for your readers.

Note:  I highly recommend creating a test blog.  You can experiment with it before actually updating your own blog.  Simply "create a blog" by using whatever name works.  It will always be there for you to try new gadgets and design templates.

There are actually several ways to add tabs.  In this video, I will show you how to add tabs by using the list gadget in Blogger.

Creating a Fabulous Fan Page - Sign up and this little piggy

I've created a list, for sharing advice.

It doesn't really matter if you're naughty or nice 
(although I do prefer nice).

For years, I've been online figuring out how to create a website, blog, tweet, sell, market, and grow my business.  I've spent countless hours on the internet researching, reading, and absorbing information.  I couldn't afford to hire anyone to help me, so I had to figure much of it out myself.  There really hasn't been anything out there I haven't been able to figure out...eventually.  Sometimes I figured out I didn't want to bother doing something at all. Suffice it to say, I have a lot of info floating around in my head that needs to be shared. 

Disclaimer:  I do not claim to be an expert on any of these things.  You can spend hours learning the same things online.  However, I've already found some great resources.  I've learned through trial and error.  So, I might be able to save you some time and frustration.  I'm also still learning, so we will be in this together.

I've wanted to share what I've learned with others (and often do on an individual basis when asked).  I have occasionally posted tips on my blog, but never wanted to focus too much on business because some of you may not be interested.  I want to keep my blog accessible to all.  Last week, when I posted the 5 Tips on Creating a great Facebook Fan Page, I was surprised by the response.  Many of you appreciated the information and wanted more.  Then I had an epiphany...

Why not create a means in which I can share this information only with those who want it?  So, that's just what I did.  For starters, I'm offering Create a Fabulous Facebook Fan Page - a series of dedicated emails with specific instructions and links. I can walk you through the various steps on making a landing page, adding apps, using the fan page to it's fullest and even provide some basic html so that your fan page will stand out from the rest of them.

Easy DIY Peace Banner - great project to do with the kids

Update 1/05/10 - I made several of these banners for friends over the holidays. In lieu of cards, I packaged a banner up with a personalized greeting from my family. Here is a picture of my packaging. I had a lot of fun making these and love that these banners can be left up year round.

Kim Gilmore (Eco Green Bags) used my pdf below and printed her own banner, strung it on silver cord, and packaged it for her friends. Thanks, Kim, for sharing the photo! I'm glad you tried it.

I have a bit of a paper fetish. I think it originated when my mom taught me how to fold origami cranes when I was a little girl. I can't resist trying different paper projects. I've even been known to make my own paper using my blender and junk mail (I don't recommend using your good blender).

Jason at Rag and Bone Bindery, is always inspiring me to make new projects from paper. You may recall my origami flower post some time back or this paper punch necklace project, both ideas came from Jason. Well, he's done it again. This time, he made beautiful paper banners from old books. His various banners said "Happy Holiday," "peace" and "bah humbug." Check out his blog pictures here. [Jason, if you have any wreaths left, I still want to buy one.]

I recently came across a large stash of old choir music that was being given away and decided to try to print on the paper and make my own banner.

I was surprised and pleased to find out that my ink jet printer prints easily on this paper. I punched holes and strung the letters/triangles onto raffia ribbon. Using the word "peace", the banner can stay up year round! This is a great project to do with kids and for any occasion.

Since you may not have access to old sheet music or books, I thought I'd make a banner pdf for you to try yourself. I chose a linen background, fun font and modern shapes to feature on this banner. Simply print (be sure your printer is set to landscape), cut, and string.
