Random Got Beautiful

Several weeks ago, I came across this website, Random Got Beautiful. Created by Nikki Farquharson in March 2007, "the concept is to take photos containing dominant colours out of their original context and place them together to create a new one." [source]

I submitted two of my pictures (red hydrant and empty chair); they were accepted and are now on display on the red and blue pages. I'm a little tingly inside.

Have a fantastic weekend! Next week, I plan to post a long overdue Living Handmade with photographer, Diana Brennan. I also have two other great post/possibly features coming up. One of which welcomes your involvement!

Foundry Artists Holiday Show 2008 - Opening reception

No, I didn't fall off the face of the blog world. I've been busy setting up for the Foundry Show that opened last night! It was all too exciting. I am amazed at the work that goes into each and every booth and the organization of the show in general. This show is in its 26th year!

I was very happy to see some of my friends there (thank you!!) and that their baskets were full of items! My husband and I walked away with quite the full basket as well. I found so many wonderful gifts as well as a few things for us.

Here are a few pics from last night. I plan to take more as the show goes on. It runs Thursday - Sunday, both this weekend and next. For those who are local, you must stop by. You won't be disappointed. Here's the link for info on time and directions: http://www.foundryshow.com/.

Artist collaboration video

Artists Julie (juliebcreative) and Kim (kimvglass) collaborated on a project combining their two mediums, painting and lampworks. The result is stunning and completely unexpected in its combination of materials.

Here is a video that Julie made documenting her work on the project .
It took Julie around 10 hours to complete her part of the project. She speeds up the painting process on the video which is also fun to watch.

Here is the final work:

I had the opportunity to see this in person and it is truly stunning. The colors in both the glass and the painting are breathtaking and rich. The painting is currently for sale here: juliebcreative.etsy.com.

It would make a beautiful holiday gift...hint, hint...
